Emergency Schwintek Slide-Out Retraction at Bristol Speedway

Motorhome with a Lippert Schwintek super slide-out · Slide-out repair · Follow-up needed

Customer complaint

What the customer noticed

The Lippert Schwintek super slide-out was completely stuck in the extended position. A replacement controller had already been installed, but the slide still would not move, and the customer needed to return home to Kentucky.

Diagnostic findings

What inspection and testing revealed

Motor 2 had damaged positive and negative wires that were not making contact with the wiring harness. A broken terminal pin was also lodged in the Motor 2 connector, preventing communication with the controller.

Work performed or recommended

What Sunset did or recommended

Using electronic diagnostic equipment, Sunset bypassed the controller and operated Motor 1 directly while the customer and friends carefully assisted the side with the failed motor.

Outcome and next step

Where the service call stands

The slide-out was safely retracted so the motorhome could travel home. The customer planned to replace the Schwintek motor and wiring harness after returning to Kentucky.
