What the customer noticed
The Coleman-Mach 8 13,500-BTU rooftop air conditioner would start, but its compressor shut off almost immediately and the RV was not cooling properly.
Diagnostic findings
What inspection and testing revealed
Sunset Mobile RV Repair tested the compressor capacitor, incoming 120-volt power, thermal overload and compressor windings. The capacitor tested within specification, the compressor was receiving the correct voltage and the thermal overload was operating correctly. Continuity testing between the compressor terminals and metal shell confirmed that the compressor had shorted to ground.
