What the customer noticed
The owners, who live in their 2018 travel trailer, reported a water leak at the water-heater plumbing in Jonesborough. They needed the leak stopped and their water service restored.

What inspection and testing revealed
The leak was at an uncommon three-way PEX-to-1/2-inch swivel fitting in the water-heater bypass assembly. A matching replacement fitting was not available locally. Inspection also found that the water heater’s anode rod was depleted.

After discussing the options, the owner chose to remove the damaged bypass/winterization assembly and connect the hot and cold water lines directly to the water heater. Replumbed the connections to stop the leak and restore water service. Replaced the depleted anode rod.

Where the service call stands
The plumbing leak was repaired and water service restored. The bypass is no longer in place, so a new bypass assembly must be installed before the trailer is winterized in the future. The owners live in the trailer and do not plan to winterize it now; they may arrange a later visit to restore the bypass.
